If you’re a member of the Mexican War Streets Society and want to spruce up your exterior façade, we want to help! We are currently accepting applications for the 2015 Façade Grant Program, which gives local property owners the opportunity to complete renovation projects that restore the historic character of their homes and enhance the overall quality of the neighborhood.

The Façade Grant Program aligns with MWSS’s commitment to increase social and economic capital in the Mexican War Streets by spurring neighborhood investment and preservation, by repairing porches, restoring wood siding, roofing, replacing gutters and windows, repointing brickwork,  painting, landscaping and strengthening retaining walls. The program is available to residential property owners in the Mexican War Streets (defined by the National Historic District).

A committee will prioritize proposals which have the greatest visual impact on the community, which repair and prevent structural damage, and which respect the original home design. With a limit of $5,000 per grant, the award is a 1-to-1 match for owner-occupied buildings, and a 1-to-2 match for non-owner-occupied buildings.

Applications are due June 1. Find out more here, and download an application here.
