Directions to the Mexican War Streets
From the West and South:
Go through the Fort Pitt Tunnel toward downtown
Pittsburgh.
After emerging from the tunnel, take the 279 North / North
Shore exit. This will take you to the Fort Duquesne Bridge.
Once on the Fort Duquesne Bridge, get into the far left lane.
Follow the signs for North Shore.
At the traffic light at the end of the North Shore exit, turn
right onto Allegheny Avenue. (Heinz Field will be on your
left.)
Stay in this lane and go straight. Be careful here - if you
get into the right lane you'll get onto a ramp taking you in
the opposite direction. Pull up to the traffic light, then turn
right onto Ridge Avenue.
Stay straight at the stop sign.
At the next traffic light, turn left onto Brighton Avenue.
At the next traffic light at Western Avenue, stay straight.
At the next traffic light, turn right onto W. North Avenue.
You will see the large YMCA sign on the corner of W.
North Avenue and Monterey Street.
The House Tour Ticket Booth and Vendor Midway is on
Monterey Street.
Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood.
Parking lots are available on the corner of Brighton Road
and North Taylor Avenue...on the first block of Buena
Vista Street...and on the second block of Sherman Street.

40th Annual
MWSS House &
Garden Tour
In honor of our 40th Anniversary, this year's House Tour will be preceded by a fabulous Preservation Ball on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 7 - 11 pm at the historic Willock House at 705 Brighton Road.
Guests will enjoy music, food and festivities...surrounded by the grandeur of an architecturally-significant, fully renovated Victorian mansion.
Attire is black tie optional, and ticket price is $50/per person presale, or $60 per person at the door. The event will be catered by Linda Ionnatta, along with an in-kind donation from the Monterey Pub.
The 40th Annual Mexican War Streets House & Garden Tour will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009.
We are actively seeking homeowners who are interested in joining the parade of homes that represent our unique and renowned historic neighborhood.
Our house tour is the most established tour in the city of Pittsburgh, and is the major fundraising event for the Mexican War Streets Society.
Chairing the house tour are Paul Johnson and Janet Moore. If you would like to put your house on tour this year, Paul and Janet request that you send your information to Homeowner Liaison, Rebeccca Grazier at rebecca.grazier@comcast.net or call 412.321.3542. You may also contact Leslie Vincen at ljvincen@comcast.net or call 412.848.1083.
If you would like to volunteer for the tour, please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Cindy Nichols at 412.231.0927 or lostlonelyandviciousbaby@yahoo.com
