The Mexican War Streets Society (MWSS) was founded in 1969 as a non-profit organization to preserve the historic character of the Mexican War Streets and to promote the neighborhood through personal and community involvement.

Our organization continues to build upon our rich tradition of preserving the residential integrity and promoting the historic significance of our streets and buildings. We also address issues that affect the quality of life of its residents, such as vacant lots, delinquent and derelict properties, and commercial development. Above all, we strive to engage and update community members through bimonthly general membership meetings and special events, such as our Mexican War Streets House & Garden Tour and The Mexican War Streets Yard Sale.

Ask anyone who lives in the Mexican War Streets what they love most about our neighborhood, and you’ll probably get a variety of answers—the beautiful Victorian houses on quiet, tree-lined streets; the area’s rich history; and the friendly, welcoming people.

"We may live in Victorian houses, but we don’t live Victorian lifestyles."
